Terms of Service
What matters most, up front
- Refunds: email us within 30 days of a payment and we refund that payment in full. The same rule applies to founding-member payments.
- Not tax advice: we do bookkeeping arithmetic. What you file is between you and your tax professional.
- Your data is yours: we process it only to provide the service, you can export it at any time, and we delete it according to Section 8.
- Early stage: this is a new product from an independent developer. Features arrive incrementally and some things will be rough.

1. Who you are dealing with
CraftMargin ("we", "us") is operated by the legal person identified in our commercial transaction disclosure. Contact: hello@craft-margin.com.
2. What the service does
CraftMargin helps US Etsy sellers record material costs, build product recipes, calculate fee-aware prices, import their own Etsy order CSV exports, and produce monthly and annual cost-of-goods-sold summaries. It is a calculation and record-keeping tool, not a tax filing service.
3. What it explicitly does not do
- It does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and no output should be treated as such. Figures are only as accurate as the data you enter.
- It does not connect to Etsy's API or log in to your Etsy account. You upload the CSV file Etsy already provides to you.
- It does not file anything with any tax authority on your behalf.
- It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by Etsy, Inc.
You remain responsible for the accuracy of your own records and filings. We strongly recommend a qualified tax professional reviews your return.
4. Your data and uploaded content
You retain ownership of the data and content you upload or create in CraftMargin. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, back up, and display that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service. We do not sell your uploaded content or use it for advertising.
You confirm that you have the right to upload the data and that your use of the service does not violate another person's privacy, intellectual-property, or contractual rights. Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Pre-launch signups and the founding-member offer
Joining the early-access list costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If you take the founding-member offer, the terms are:
- $48 for the first 12 months (50% off the regular $96/year plan), then $96/year plus applicable taxes unless you cancel before the renewal date. The checkout page shows the currency and total amount payable.
- The founding-member price applies only to the first paid 12-month period. The renewal price, billing date, and cancellation method will be shown again at checkout.
- If we do not make the paid service available by the launch date shown at checkout, you may cancel for a full refund by emailing us. We will process an approved refund within 14 days.
6. Where we sell and what the calculations mean
Paid subscriptions are currently offered only to sellers with a United States billing address. The product is built around US requirements: the year-end summary follows IRS Schedule C, and fee calculations use the US Etsy payment-processing rates. Fee calculations are estimates based on the assumptions shown in the product and may vary by Etsy account, order, advertising attribution, taxes, and Etsy policy.
CraftMargin does not prepare or submit a US tax return and does not guarantee that an export is sufficient for the IRS or any other authority. We may open paid plans in other countries only after publishing the applicable pricing, fee assumptions, and consumer terms.
7. Pricing, billing, and cancellation
Regular pricing is $10 per month, or $96 per year. All prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes your jurisdiction imposes. The checkout page shows the total amount payable before you submit an order.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the interval selected at checkout until you cancel. Before each renewal, we will send a durable written notice stating the renewal date, amount, and how to cancel. You can cancel through the account billing controls or by emailing us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. There is no cancellation fee.
8. Refunds
Email us within 30 days of a charge and we refund that charge in full, no explanation needed. We will process an approved refund within 14 days using the original payment method where possible. This refund policy does not limit any mandatory consumer rights. After 30 days, we may provide a discretionary refund if the service was materially unavailable or defective.
9. Retention and deletion
You can export your data while your account is active. After cancellation or termination, we retain account data for up to 30 days so that you can recover it, then delete it from active systems. Encrypted backups may remain for up to 90 additional days before being overwritten. We may retain information where required by law, for fraud prevention, or to establish or defend legal claims.
10. Your responsibilities
- Keep your login credentials to yourself. One subscription is for one seller.
- Only upload data you have the right to upload.
- Do not attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, and do not use it for anything illegal.
11. Availability
We aim to keep the service running and to keep backups, but we do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee. Planned maintenance will be announced by email where practical. Because you can export your data at any time, you are never locked in if we let you down.
12. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including tax penalties, lost profits, or lost sales, to the extent the law permits. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, a breach of mandatory data protection obligations, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
13. Ending the relationship
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms or that we are legally required to stop serving; if we do so without your fault, we refund the unused portion of what you paid. Either way, you can export your data first.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we will email you at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
15. General terms
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the order details shown at checkout, are the entire agreement about the service. We may update the service or these terms to comply with law, improve security, or add features. We will not use a change to remove rights already paid for without your consent.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and the courts of Japan have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country.
